A 53-year-old Oklahoma man was found early Thursday lying unconscious in downtown Lawrence after witnesses saw him being kicked and beaten by three men.

He was flown by air ambulance to a Kansas City area hospital. His condition was not available.

Witnesses told police the three men came out of a nearby restaurant, saw the Oklahoma man and attacked him.

At 12:20 a.m., police were called to 10th and Massachusetts streets, where the man had been attacked and left lying partially under a bench.

Another man riding by on a bicycle had stopped and yelled at the suspects to stop attacking the victim, police said. He was struck by one of the attackers and knocked off the bicycle, witnesses told police.

The suspects left in a dark, four-door car. An investigation is continuing.

JoRight- I highly doubt that it was a transienttransient fight. Not too many transients around here could afford to frequent a dining establishment that caters to the fine tastes of cultured Homeless. HA-HA

Madmike isn't racist. He's just stating the truth. There is a double standard for everything. It goes both ways.

Madmike, now, you're a racist! j/k. Was this a transient on transient fight? Or was it just some punks beating up on a homeless guy?

Now Doc, that would be racist. noe, on the other hand, had the three suspects been white and the victim black, it would be on CNN and Jessie Jackson and the Black Panthers would be here raising hell, not to mention that the FBI would be investigating it as a hate crime.

They should have mentioned that the suspects were black. Not that that means anything but a better description should be there.
