Amarr receives OSHA safety award

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recently recognized Amarr Garage Doors for superior safety programs at the company’s manufacturing center in the East Hills Business Park.

Amarr is a winner of a Safety and Health Achievement Program (SHARP) Award from OSHA, given to companies that operate exemplary safety and health management systems.

OSHA sent a consultation team to Lawrence to see the center and quiz Amarr employees about safety standards. The team rated the operation on 50 safety items, giving Amarr a final score of 198 out of a possible 200.

“Amarr has always been dedicated to workplace safety and this award exemplifies that,” said Craig Crane, Amarr’s safety director. “This recognition goes to the employees as much as it does anybody because they are always focused on safety and that can be seen every day in the plant.”

Amarr employees in Lawrence plan to celebrate the award Thursday at the plant, 3800 Greenway Circle. Gov. Kathleen Sebelius is scheduled to sign a proclamation June 25 to honor Amarr for receiving the award.
