The Kansas Authors Club will have a presentation by author and professor Thomas Averill for its meeting Saturday, which is open to the public.

Averill will talk about common mistakes that writers make.

The event will be at 9:30 a.m. at Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt.

Averill’s publications include two novels: “Secrets of the Tsil Cafe” and “The Slow Air of Ewan MacPherson.” He is the 2006 recipient of the Kansas Arts Commission Fellowship in Fiction and an O. Henry Award
