Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for June 6, 1907: “Many are following the progress of a 2-pound ‘incubator baby’ in Topeka who seems to be holding on and even improving after 12 days of special treatment. He has gained no weight since birth but has not lost any, either, and many are praying for his constant improvement. : Total deposits in state banks have hit a record of $78 million, an increase of more than $6 million over the past year. There is no doubt the state economy is doing well. : It is commencement week at Baker University and much is being planned at the Methodist school which is even older than the University of Kansas.”
