Five second-year Webelos from Cub Scout Pack 3055, chartered to Westside Presbyterian Church, attended the Pelathe District’s Webelos graduation weekend May 11-13 at Spring Creek in Baldwin City. The boys took part in building a monkey bridge, cooking, learning first aid and fire building, as well as fishing. Scouts attending included Jake Keary, Blake Haley, Tyler Kendrick, Steven Ozaki and Will Dalager. They were accompanied by adult leaders Joanie Haley, David Kendrick and David Ozaki.
¢Boy Scout Troop 55, chartered to Westside Presbyterian Church, held a camp-in for first-year Scouts on March 10-11 at the Edmond Burgess Scout Cabin. First-year Scouts attending were John Bennett, Gage Buffington, Michael Edman, Stephen Fulton, Charlie Gaito, Aaron Gehrke, Adam Hayes, Alex Houston, Austin Johanning, Bryce Lignell, Ben Maloun, Clayton Pfeifer, Nick Pippert, Conner Remboldt, Tyler Robbins, Matthew Thompson and Monte Turner. Older Scouts attending included Jeremy Woodhead, Chris Maar, Jacob Pfeifer, Steven Howe, David Lawrence, Bryce Baringer, Joe Vannicola, Johnathan Roberts, Kjeil Muellinix, Isaac Remboldt, Mitch McCune, Ian Gent, Griffin Kimmel and Josh Gore.
On March 17-20, the troop went to the Richland Creek Wilderness Area in Arkansas for backpacking and camping. Scouts attending included Drew Braden, Jacob Pfeifer, Ian Gent, Newt Heston, Griffin Kimmel, Kjeil Muellinix, Alan O’Neal, Colin O’Neal, Issac Remboldt, Johnathan Roberts and Wyatt Patterson. Adult leaders were Dan Affalter, Cammie Braden, Jerry Ohlemeier, John Pfeifer and Joe Wilson.
¢Eight Cub Scouts from Pack 3077, chartered to the Sunflower School PTO, and their families participated in a camp-out at Camp Bromelsick on May 18-19. The Scouts fished and took a hike with members of Boy Scout Troop 55, who also were camping there. Cub Scouts attending included Jack Ryan, Sam Goodwin, Sam Dykes, Marc Weinburg, Lucas Mackey, Jacob DiVilbiss, Chase Odgers and Michael Heschmeyer.
¢Boy Scouts in Troop 53 participated in the Order of the Arrow induction weekend May 18-19 at Camp Naish in Bonner Springs. The Order of the Arrow is an honorary camping fraternity dedicated to serving others and demonstrating the Scout Oath and Law. Scouts inducted as ordeal members included Connor Chestnut, Devon Griffin, John Hambleton and Luke Lesslie. Earning brotherhood membership were Joey Berger, Zach Chumbley, Joey Cunningham, Evan Mielke, Zach Schmidt and adult leader Doug Stremel. Also attending were arrowman Zak Stremel and adult leaders Bryan Chumbley, Carey Berger, Kip Grosshans, Jim Mielke and Eric Muetz.
¢Boy Scout Troop 59, chartered to the First Presbyterian Church of Lawrence, conducted its annual Family Canoe Trip on May 18-20 at the NRO campground on the Niangua River in Missouri. A total of 61 Scouts and 105 family members and leaders attended. In addition to two days of camping and canoeing, new Scouts were welcomed into the troop with an induction ceremony. The new Scouts are Ryan Bellinger, Brandon Botkin, Frank Depenbusch, Sammy Dowell, Sam Evans, TJ Everett, Liam Inbody, Nathan Kappelman, Briggs Fish, Joshua Hodge, Luke Oberrieder, Anish Patel, Jake Rogers, Levi Sedlock, Kiefer Stellwagon, Jakob Walter and Daniel Wrigley.
