Fishing report

CLINTON LAKE (updated 7-25) – Water 82 degrees and 1.62 feet above normal pool. Discharge 21 cfs. Wiper fair using minnows in outlet. Channel catfish fair using stinkbait, cut bait, liver and worms over baited areas. Also on minnows and nightcrawlers in outlet. Crappie fair with some being caught over brushpiles at 7-15 feet using minnows and jigs. Walleye-sauger fair using jig and nightcrawler on the flats. Note: Outlet was reopened to fishing Sunday.

PERRY LAKE (updated 7-26) – Channel catfish good with fish in normal summer pattern. Drift shad over feeders and Hog Trough. Sauger fair on shad, cranks and twisters along the dam. White bass fair to good off rocky points and rip-rap using shad-colored crankbaits, particularly at night. White crappie slow.

DOUGLAS STATE LAKE (updated 7-25) – Closed to fishing. Repairs have been completed, but lake tentatively won’t reopen until January of 2009 in order to allow re-stocked fish to mature. Over 135 acres in basin.

LEAVENWORTH STATE LAKE (updated 7-25) – Largemouth bass fair casting plastic jigs and worms around brushpiles. Channel catfish fair using chicken livers, stinkbait and nightcrawlers. Note: Aerator is down, but feeders are working.

LONE STAR LAKE (updated 7-25) – Largemouth bass fair using plastic jigs. Channel catfish fair using stinkbait, livers and nightcrawlers. Bluegill fair using worms under bobber.

LAKE SHAWNEE (updated 7-25) – Water 85 degrees and clear to 36 inches. Bluegill good using worms under bobber from shore. Channel catfish good, mostly in morning and late afternoon using dip baits, stinkbait and worms. Most being caught in south end of lake in shallows. Largemouth bass good, mostly in morning or late afternoon. Most being caught near shoreline cover on spinnerbaits and topwater buzzbaits.
