Omaha, Neb. ? Former Kansas University golfer Chris Thompson shot a third-round 69 Saturday to move five strokes back of leader Roland Thatcher at the Cox Classic, a Nationwide Tour stop at Champions Run.

Thompson opened with a 60 but fell back to 71 in Friday’s second round. He’s tied with eight golfers at 195.

Thatcher leads with 64-63-68-195 and hold a two-stroke lead over B.J. Staten on the 7,145-yard, part-71 course.
