Today is the first day to sign up for this fall’s Little League football program sponsored by Lawrence Youth Football Inc.

Representatives of LYFI will be in the Youth Sports Inc. fields parking lot starting at 7 p.m. to accept registration forms and to hand out fundraising cards.

“The best thing to do is to download the sign-up sheet before they come,” said Bret Toelkes of LYFI.

Blank forms are available at www.lawrenceyouthfootball.org.

Lawrence Youth Football is divided into five age groups topped by the four-team seventh-grade league that represents the city’s junior highs.

Sixth-graders play in the A Division, fifth-graders in B, fourth-graders in C and second- and third-graders in D. The league provides helmets, shoulder pads and pants with pads.

All players will receive 20 fundraising cards that can be used to offset the $200 registration fee due prior to equipment checkout on Aug. 11. The season will begin on Sept. 9.

A second registration session is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, also in the YSI parking lot.
