Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for July 24, 1907: “One of the greatest treats for local people during the Ringling Circus visit was when they went to the show grounds and watched the entourage unload and set up for shows. : Lawrence is in the grip of an ice famine, which threatens at any time to become serious. The local plant is working to full capacity and is buying all the outside ice it can find. Prices are high but people are willing to pay them if they can just get ice.”
