One person was injured this afternoon after being struck by a car on a busy west Lawrence street. The accident occurred shortly after 2 p.m. at Sixth Street and Schwarz Road.

Witnesses said a woman was crossing Sixth Street in a crosswalk when she was struck by a car turning west from Schwarz.

An air ambulance landed at nearby Centennial Park to fly the woman to a Kansas City hospital.

There was no immediate word on her condition.
