Bonds not worried about indictment

? Barry Bonds was in the lineup again Saturday, probably a small surprise because it was a day game after a night game.

And then San Francisco Giants manager Bruce Bochy revealed there was a possibility Bonds would be in the lineup today if he feels well enough.

Bonds, who did not start the first three games of the Giants’ trip because of stiff and sore lower legs, spoke for approximately 17 minutes about three hours before the game Saturday at Miller Park.

One topic addressed was the news that the grand jury in the BALCO case was extended for another six months. One report said the grand jury is almost certain to indict Bonds.

“I’m not concerned,” Bonds said defiantly. “I haven’t been discussing it forever and I’m not going to discuss it. You guys are going to write your stories anyway. Leave me out of it.

“I’m not concerned. Do I look concerned?”

Another hot topic was the attendance this weekend of Commissioner Bud Selig, who said Friday night he’d be at all three games. The issue of whether Selig will be on hand when Bonds breaks Hank Aaron’s record of 755 home runs has been one of the hotplate items of the summer.

Bonds said there was no animosity between himself and the commissioner.

“We haven’t talked in while, but I have respect for Bud, like I’ve said before,” Bonds said. “I don’t care what you guys write. Say whatever you want, you’re not going to sway my decision about how I feel.

“Bud has always been kind to me. He’s always been nice to my father.”

Bonds said those feelings wouldn’t change if Selig is not there for the record-breaker.
