Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for July 21, 1907: “A gas explosion in the J.C. Jensen home at 1301 R.I. this morning blew up the kitchen stove, ripped off all its lids and scattered things in general in the kitchen. Nobody was hurt but the sound of the blast could be heard for blocks. : The M. Robinson announcement he is abandoning the subscription plan to build a rock road to Kansas City means that plan will never succeed in funding for public projects. However, a system of roads should not be abandoned, just pursued in other ways.”
