¢Chapple records ace: Todd Chapple used a 5-iron from 182 yards out to hit a hole-in-one on the 15th hole at Alvamar Public during Jayhawk Golf Club match play on July 4. The ace was witnessed by Rich Anthony, Jeff Miller and Tom Taylor.

¢Swimmers Win at SSG: Two Lawrence sportswomen won age-group competition at the Sunflower State Games held in Topeka July 15. Joanie Starks won the 50-, 200- and 400-meter freestyle, the 50- and 200-meter breaststroke and one-meter diving.

¢Powers Hole in One: Brandon “B.J.” Powers aced No. 4 at Alvamar Public on July 12. Powers used a 5-iron the 185-yard hole for the shot witnessed by Jared Dunn and Ryan Waggoner.
