Dusk 2 Dawn race slated for Saturday

More than birds and squirrels will be stirring overnight this weekend at Perry State Park.

About 100 people from the Midwest will participate in a “Dusk 2 Dawn” adventure race, which begins at 9 p.m. Saturday. The eight- to 12-hour nonstop race includes mountain biking, trail running, hiking and lake paddling. Participants can compete in teams of two or four people, or by themselves.

The first race, which was last summer, had 50 participants.

Jason Elsenraat, owner of Bonk Hard Racing, which puts on the event, plans to make it an annual race. He said Perry Lake and its surrounding trails provide the perfect place for such an event.
