From the Lawrence Daily World for July 18, 1907: “The World will announce changes in the rates for church advertising but there will remain many church notices that will be run free of charge, as has always been our policy. : Artemus McClure, a messenger boy for the Postal Telegraph Co., was bitten in the leg this morning by a dog and he received a serious wound. He was riding his bicycle on a delivery when the dog attacked. Considerable blood was drawn but there seems to be no danger of rabies, the first concern of many. : Rock Island Railroad officials have announced that all their people are going to stay out of politics, unlike the leaders of some of our other rail entities. The announcement is long overdue.”
