Fishing report

CLINTON LAKE (updated 7-11) – Water 82 degrees and 2.66 feet above normal pool. Discharge 1,000 cfs but should be reduced to 50 cfs. Channel catfish fair using stinkbait, cut bait, liver or worms over baited areas. Flathead catfish fiar in the outlet using sunfish, shad and jigs. Crappie fair over bushpiles at 7-15 feet using minnows and jigs. Walleye/sauger good using jig and nightcrawler on the flats. Note: The outlet area below the dam has been closed due to trash and fishing violations after high releases. For more info, contact the Corps of Engineers at 843-7665.

PERRY LAKE (updated 7-13) – Channel catfish good/excellent following normal summer pattern, with drifting shad by feeders and hog trough. Sauger fair on shad, cranks or twisters shallow along the dam. White base fair/good busting shad in Thompsonville Cove; try those rocky points, rip-rap, with twisters or shad-colored crankbaits. White crappie slow on tube jigs or minnows in 8-12 feet.

DOUGLAS STATE LAKE (updated 7-10) – Closed to fishing. Repairs have been completed, but lake tentatively won’t reopen until January of 2009 in order to allow re-stocked fish to mature. Currently over 135 acres in basin.

LEAVENWORTH STATE LAKE (updated 7-11) – Largemouth bass fair on plastic jigs and worms around brushpiles. Channel catfish fair using chicken livers, stinkbait and nightcrawlers.

LONE STAR LAKE (updated 7-11) – Largemouth bass fair on plastic worms and jigs. Channel catfish fair using stinkbait, livers and nightcrawlers. Bluegill fair using worms under bobber.

LAKE SHAWNEE (updated 7-11) – Water 84 degrees. Channel catfish good with chicken livers, stinkbait and worms; most being caught in south end of lake in shallows. Largemouth bass good near shore on spinnerbaits and top-water buzzbaits.
