Audio-Reader accepting fundraiser donations

Audio-Reader, a Kansas University-based reading service for blind and visually impaired people, is accepting donations for its fifth annual fall fundraising sale “For Your Ears Only.”

They are asking for people to donate everything from vinyl records and turn tables to iPods and videotapes.

“We call it a ‘sale of all things audio,'” said Diana Frederick, development director for Audio-Reader.

Donations will be accepted from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot in front of Jayhawk Central on KU’s Edwards Campus, 12600 Quivira Road, in Overland Park. In Lawrence, another donation drive will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 28 at Hy-Vee, 4000 W. Sixth St.

The first 20 people who donate will receive a free Audio-Reader coffee mug or bowl made from a recycled record album.

The event “For Your Ears Only” will take place Sept. 21-22, and donated items will be sold. The money raised will go to update and maintain the technology Audio-Reader needs to provide services.
