Powerful typhoon hits Japan, injures seven

? The powerful Typhoon No. 4 moved northward around the main island of Okinawa Prefecture on Friday, injuring seven people there. It is expected to take an easterly course and hit southern Kyushu island at noon today, the Japanese Meteorological Agency said.

The Amami region in Kagoshima Prefecture also entered the storm zone Friday. In Okinawa Prefecture, damage caused by the typhoon continued and houses were flooded above floor level and transportation was almost completely stopped.

Buses and monorails were canceled, and every prefectural school on Okinawa Prefecture’s main island was temporarily closed.
