Tower workers, killed in Tuesday fall, are identified
Pair were from the Kansas City area
Two men who died Tuesday after falling from a communications tower were publicly identified Wednesday morning.
They are Jerry Case, 54, of Kansas City, Mo., and Kevin Keeling, 33, of Independence, Mo.
The accident took place at a 1,000-foot tower southeast of Lawrence, near East 1750 and North 1100 roads.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department said a preliminary investigation determined the two men were ascending the tower in a bucket to an elevation of 500 to 800 feet, when a cable failed, dropping the pair.
An investigation continues as to what caused the wire cable to fail.
