Fishing report

CLINTON LAKE (updated 7-5) – Water 79 degrees and 3.72 feet above normal pool. Discharge 1,000 cfs. Channel catfish fair using stinkbait, cut bait, liver, worms over baited areas. Flathead catfish fair in the outlet using sunfish, shad and jigs. Walleye-sauger good using jig and nightcrawler on the flats.

PERRY LAKE (updated 7-5) – Channel catfish good drifting shad by feeders and by Hog trough. Sauger fair on shad, cranks or twisters along the dam. White bass fair to good off rocky points and rip-rap using twisters or shad-colored crankbaits. White crappie slow on tube jigs or minnows at 8-12 feet.

DOUGLAS STATE LAKE (updated 6-26) – Closed to fishing. Repairs have been completed, but lake tentatively won’t reopen until January of 2009 in order to allow re-stocked fish to mature. Currently over 90 acres in basin.

LEAVENWORTH STATE LAKE (updated 6-26) – Water 82 degrees, clear to 40 inches. Largemouth bass fair while casting white or gray jigs around brushpiles. Some being caught on poppers. Channel catfish fair using chicken liver, stinkbait and nightcrawlers. Walleye slow using minnows off deep rocky points. Crappie good using worms and jigs off piers and brushpiles. Note: All five air lines active. Feeders are working.

LONE STAR LAKE (updated 6-20) – Largemouth bass good using jigs and spinners. Bluegill fair using worms under bobber. Channel catfish fair using stinkbait, livers and nightcrawlers.

LAKE SHAWNEE (updated 6-20) – Water 80 degrees and clear to 36 inches. Channel catfish fair using chicken livers and worms. Walleye good using jig and nightcrawler on flats. Bluegill fair using worm under bobber. Wiper fair using spinners, jig and nightcrawler and chicken livers. Largemouth bass fair near shore with spinners.
