Denver – Ryan Spilborghs hit a two-run homer, Todd Helton drove in two runs, and Colorado beat Philadelphia to hand the Phillies loss No. 9,999 in franchise history.

Cubs 7, Pirates 1

Pittsburgh – Ted Lilly pitched neatly into the eighth inning, Alfonso Soriano had three hits, and Chicago won for the 12th time in 15 games.

Reds 5, Diamondbacks 4

Cincinnati – Slumping Norris Hopper singled home the tiebreaking run in the eighth inning.

Nationals 5, Brewers 4

Washington – Austin Kearns’ two-run double, his first extra-base hit in 15 games, capped a four-run rally in the fifth. Jason Simontacchi (6-6) allowed eight hits and three runs – on three solo homers – in six innings for his fourth victory in six starts. He walked one and struck out five as Washington, which had lost nine of 11, halted a two-game skid.

St. Louis – Barry Bonds went 0-for-2.

Padres 8, Braves 5

San Diego – Mike Cameron and Khalil Greene homered.

Marlins 7, Dodgers 2

Los Angeles – Hanley Ramirez had four hits, Miguel Cabrera and Josh Willingham homered in the fourth inning, and Florida backed Sergio Mitre with enough offense for a victory over Los Angeles.

Mitre (3-4) won for the first time since May 20, allowing two runs and 11 hits over seven innings with a walk and two strikeouts.

Los Angeles – Hanley Ramirez hit a pair of solo homers and drove in the go-ahead run with a bunt single in the 10th inning.
