Washington – Carlos Zambrano won his third consecutive start to make a final push for an All-Star spot. Alfonso Soriano again hurt his former team with two hits and two runs scored.

San Diego – Hanley Ramirez, who didn’t start because of a tweaked left hamstring, hit a pinch-hit two-run homer that highlighted a four-run seventh inning.

St. Louis – Stand-in starter Yusmeiro Petit pitched into the sixth in place of injured Randy Johnson.

Houston – Hunter Pence hit a solo homer off Jose Mesa on the first pitch of the 13th inning.

Denver – Former Met Kaz Matsui had a career-high five hits, and Ryan Spliborghs hit his first grand slam to lead Colorado. Garrett Atkins added a two-run home run and had three RBIs for the Rockies.
