Law enforcement report

¢ Two teenage boys, missing on the Wakarusa River for about an hour Monday afternoon, walked their way to safety.

The 19-year-old Lawrence residents had departed from the spillway on the east side of Clinton Lake and planned to float on inner tubes to Haskell Avenue, sheriff’s Detective Pat Pollock said.

A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers ranger saw the teens in the water and called for emergency crews shortly after 3:30 p.m. Crews were prepared for a water rescue and stood watch at several bridges.

The teens exited the river safely about 4:30 p.m. at the bridge at Brown’s Grove Road.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ A Manhattan man reported the loss of items worth more than $1,000 when his car was broken into Sunday night. The 27-year-old reported that a military compass, valued at $200, and a military radio, valued at $1,000, were stolen from his vehicle, which was parked in the 500 block of Samantha Avenue.

¢ An unknown amount of money was taken during a break-in Saturday at Cork and Barrel, 901 Miss. A window and storage cubby were damaged during the incident. Damage was estimated at $500.

¢ A 21-year-old Lawrence woman reported jeans, DVDs and other items valued together at $1,345 taken Friday from the 2400 block of West 25th Street.
