Mary Doveton, executive director of Lawrence Community Theatre, was one of three nationally chosen adjudicators for the American Association of Community Theatre National Festival conducted June 18-24 at the Blumenthal Center for the Performing Arts in Charlotte, N.C.

The festival was sponsored by the American Association of Community Theatre, a national organization representing the interests of about 7,000 community theaters across the country.

Twelve productions from the association’s 10 regions were chosen to perform in Charlotte. Doveton’s responsibilities involved watching the shows and giving a public response after each production. Plays were judged on overall production, with acting and directing as the major elements.
