Fishing report

CLINTON LAKE (updated 6-25) – Water 78 degrees and 1.94 feet above normal pool. Discharge 250 cfs. Channel catfish fair using worm. Crappie fair over brushpiles using minnows and jigs. Flathead catfish fair in the outlet using sunfish, shad and jigs. Walleye-sauger good with jig and nightcrawler on the flats.

PERRY LAKE (updated 6-25) – Channel catfish good in shallows while spawning on worms or cranks in the rocks. Feeders are working and some anglers are working the hog trough. Sauger fair in shallows on shad, cranks or twisters along weeds. White bass fair to good on rocky points, rip-rap using twisters or shad-colored cranks. White crappie slow at 8-13 feet using tube jigs or minnows. Fish have scattered.

DOUGLAS STATE LAKE (updated 6-26) – Closed to fishing. Repairs have been completed, but lake tentatively won’t reopen until January of 2009 in order to allow re-stocked fish to mature. Over 90 acres in basin.

LEAVENWORTH STATE LAKE (updated 6-26) – Water 82 degrees, clear to 40 inches. Largemouth bass fair while casting white or gray jigs around brushpiles. Some being caught on poppers. Channel catfish fair using chicken liver, stinkbait and nightcrawlers. Walleye slow using minnows off deep rocky points. Crappie good using worms and jigs off piers and brushpiles.

LONE STAR LAKE (updated 6-20) – Largemouth bass good on jigs, spinners. Bluegill fair with worms under bobber. Channel catfish fair using stinkbait, livers and nightcrawlers.

LAKE SHAWNEE (updated 6-20) – Water 80 degrees and clear to 36 inches. Channel catfish fair using chicken livers and worms. Walleye good using jig and nightcrawler on flats. Bluegill fair using worm under bobber. Wiper fair using spinners, jig and nightcrawler and chicken livers. Largemouth bass fair near shore with spinners.
