Wichita State holds on to upend slumping UNI

? Kyle Wilson scored 24 points to lead Wichita State past Northern Iowa, 67-61, Tuesday night, sending the Panthers to their third straight loss.

Matt Braueur chipped in with 10 for Wichita State (15-8, 6-6 MVC), which has won five of its last seven following a 1-6 midseason skid.

Northern Iowa (16-6, 6-5) cut a 16-point deficit to 57-54 with 3:51 left, as Jared Josten capped a 21-8 run with a pair of free throws.

Wilson answered on the other end by knocking down a three-pointer. Wilson pushed the Shockers’ lead to 63-54 with a pair of free throws, and Sean Ogirri iced the game with four straight from the line.

Wichita State led 41-25 at the break, but Grant Stout scored 22 of his team-high 23 points in the second half as the Panthers chipped away at the lead. Eric Coleman added 19 points and 10 rebounds for Northern Iowa.
