Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Jan. 29, 1907: “The state Senate today passed Rep. Mitchell’s bill to abolish capital punishment in Kansas. : The Kansas State Temperance Union will hold its annual convention in Topeka Feb. 5 and 6 and many from Lawrence will attend to help enlist the support of every lover of home and civic righteousness. : Two country visitors in Lawrence yesterday went into the Nickel Theater and created disturbance. They were intoxicated and disliked the presence of the negro porter at the theater. They were arrested and will be tried later.”
