From the Lawrence Daily World for Jan. 24, 1907: "Arch Hazlitt, who was arrested in Lawrence last Friday and charged with assaulting Zona Heckert in DeSoto and then robbing the U.S. mail site there, was acquitted at his preliminary hearing in Olathe. Miss Heckert, attacked while working at the rail station, could not identify Hazlitt as her assailant, thus the acquittal for what was a very brutal crime. : The prospect that Lawrence may get the new Kelly Implement Factory ought to spur every citizen to have renewed interest in the welfare of this town. Such a factory could be for us what the Santa Fe shops are to Topeka. Kansas could be en route to becoming an industrial as well as an agricultural state."
