Haskell men erase 15-point deficit

Three Indians score 16 in comeback victory

— Haskell Indian Nations University overcame an early 15-point deficit to defeat Newman, 83-78, on Tuesday night in men's college basketball.

The Indians trailed 21-6 early and 39-29 at halftime, but outscored Newman 54-39 in the second half. Haskell shot 65 percent in the second half after shooting 27 percent in the first half, good for 43.6 percent for the game.

Wacy Weeks, Joe Sanders and Ryan Brown led the Indians with 16 points apiece. Jamison King added 14 oints, Kirk Brown 10 points, and Ben Carrywater seven points and 12 rebounds.

Haskell now is 3-17 but has won two games in a row. The Indians will be home at 7:30 p.m. Friday to face College of the Ozarks.
