Overland Park ? A hot Hyman Brand shooter doomed Veritas Christian’s boys basketball team in a 59-31 loss Monday.

Gary Cutovitz scored 28 points for Hyman, including four three-pointers, to constantly keep Veritas digging out of a hole.

“We knew he was one of their best players, especially when he started heating up,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said. “Defensively, we need to communicate better to pick up those players who get a hot hand.”

Isiah Dover led the Eagles with 10 points, while Taylor Zook added six.

Veritas will play Flint Hills Christian at home on Friday.
