Linebacker commits to Kansas

Kansas University’s football team received another oral commitment Sunday – a rare linebacker.

The Jayhawks got their second known commitment from a linebacker in this class, a non-binding pledge from Justin Springer out of Los Fresnos, Texas, according to Rivals.com.

Springer had committed to Arizona State, but changed his mind after taking an official visit to KU over the weekend.

“I really like coach Mike Mallory,” Springer told Rivals. “He is the linebacker coach and also the lead recruiter. He was a good linebacker when he played at Michigan.”

Springer stands an imposing 6-foot-4, 220 pounds and changed his mind after committing to Arizona State less than a week ago. He had 154 tackles for Los Fresnos High, located in a small town in the southern tip of Texas.

Kansas now has 19 known commitments.
