Apartment complex to be reconsidered

The Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission tonight will consider plans for a large apartment complex at the southeast corner of Sixth Street and Stoneridge Drive.

Commissioners are being asked to approve a preliminary development plan for Aberdeen on Sixth, a 108-unit apartment complex that also would have four duplex units.

Planning commissioners previously considered the proposal, but they are considering it again after city commissioners were unable to agree on the design.

Other items on the agenda include a conditional-use permit to change the operator of the Big Springs Quarry to Mid-States Materials and amendments to the county zoning code.

The meeting is set to begin at 6:30 tonight at City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets. If commissioners do not finish their discussions, they will meet again at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall.
