Eudora boys earn berth in Tongie tourney finale

? Kelson Boyer tossed in a team-high 18 points as the Eudora High boys basketball team knocked off Tonganoxie, 67-58, on Friday night in the semifinals of the Tonganoxie Invitational.

Mike Ortega (16 points), Matthew Abel (10) and Todd Roberts (10) also scored in double figures for the Cardinals (7-4), who advanced to tonight’s 7:30 p.m. championship game against Atchison.

Zeb Kissinger had 18 points for the Chieftains (7-3), who will face Leavenworth Immaculata in today’s third-place game.

Baldwin 60, Ottawa 52

Baldwin – Blake Wieden scored 21 and Andrew Madl added 15 as the Bulldogs advanced to the championship game of the Baldwin Invitational.

Victor Ojeleye had 24 points for Ottawa (7-2).

Baldwin (7-2) will face Augusta in tonight’s 5:30 p.m. championship game.

Perry-Lecompton 59, Shawnee Maranatha 37

McLouth – Kyle Morgison scored 15 points, and Brian Hastert and Shane Gimzo scored 11 apiece to lead the Kaws.

Jefferson North 57, Oskaloosa 46

McLouth – Brock McGinnis scored 15 points, and Chase Tenpenny added 10 for the Bears.

McLouth 52, Valley Falls 37

McLouth – Trevor Keling tallied 21 points to lead the Bulldogs in the losers’ bracket of its own tournament.

Girls

Tonganoxie 50, Silver Lake 20

Tonganoxie – Elizabeth Baska scored 20 points as the Chieftains routed Silver Lake and advanced to the finals of the Tonganoxie Invitational.

Tonganoxie (10-0) will play Lansing tonight at 6 p.m. in the title game.

Lansing 38, Eudora 26

Tonganoxie – The Cardinals stuggled on offense, failing to reach double digits in any single quarter while falling in the semifinals of the Tonganoxie Invitational.

Allison Braden scored six points to lead Eudora (6-4), which will play Silver Lake at 1 p.m. today in the tournament’s third-place game.

Santa Fe Trail 62, Council Grove 37

Burlington – Brooke Pryor scored 26 points, and Sara Weber scored 13 to lead the Chargers in a losers bracket victory in the Burlington tournament.

Santa Fe Trail (7-2) will play Sabetha at 4 p.m. today in the tourney’s fifth-place game.
