Cat Tracker accident: Injured man improving, hospital says

The man injured in the Cat Tracker bus accident last November is improving, Kansas University Hospital officials said Friday.

Chris D. Orr, who was injured when his head struck an overpass while standing atop the fan bus, is now in fair condition in the rehabilitation wing of the hospital, said Dennis McCulloch, a spokesman for the hospital.

Orr has been hospitalized since the accident and was recently upgraded from serious condition. Another man, John Green, was killed in the Iowa Street accident Nov. 18.

Meanwhile, District Attorney Charles Branson is still considering whether to file charges against the bus driver, Salina resident Brent Simonsson.

Simonsson was driving the bus on a restricted license that did not allow him to drive commercial vehicles.

Branson said he has now received all of the information he requested from the Lawrence Police Department and should decide whether to file charges soon.
