Wrong portrait

To the editor:

When I first saw the “presidential portrait” of Sen. Sam Brownback on the front page of Monday’s edition of the Lawrence Journal-World, I assumed the sections of my newspaper were out of order. Surely, I thought, no one would put a portrait of Brownback on the front page of the paper on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Surely, I thought, no one would feature a man who champions discrimination against American citizens by opposing gay marriage on the very day we celebrate the legacy of Dr. King. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered that I was wrong.
