Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence police are investigating a string of burglaries and attempted burglaries at an apartment complex at 1605 Tennessee St.

The incidents happened between Friday and Sunday, police said, when suspects attempted to break into several apartments and storage units.

Almost $2,000 worth of electronics and other property was stolen, and thieves caused about $200 worth of damage to door frames, police said.

Burglaries and thefts reported

¢ 300 block of N. 2000 Road: Residents reported the burglary and theft of more than $3,600 worth of belongings from their home Saturday.

Included in the belongings was a 42-inch flatscreen television.

¢ 400 block of N. Ninth St.: Sheriff’s officers investigated the theft of $9,320 worth of goods from two businesses, including ICL Performance Products Jan. 11.

Business owners reported an arc welder, a pipe drill and copper wire missing.

¢ 1000 block of E. 19th St.: A car owner reported more than $1,500 worth of stereo equipment stolen from a vehicle Jan. 9.

Emergency calls

¢ Police broke in the door of an apartment Tuesday afternoon in the 2100 block of Clinton Parkway to get to an 80-year-old man who was having medical trouble inside. About 5:15 p.m., a concerned neighbor called the emergency-dispatch center asked someone to check on the man, who lives alone. An officer who arrived at the scene heard moaning inside and forced the door open, Lawrence Police Sgt. Damon Thomas said.

The man wasn’t able to communicate with officers and was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Thomas said police weren’t sure what happened to the man but thought that he may have fallen.
