Elwood tourney unkind to Eagles

? Michael Kay scored 14 points, and Micah Barclay added 12, but Veritas Christian fell to Elwood, 58-43, on Tuesday night in the Elwood boys high school basketball tournament.

“I thought it was one of our better games,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said. “We were in the game throughout. At halftime it was a five-point game.”

Veritas (1-10) will play at 5 p.m. Thursday as the tournament continues.

St. Joseph 59, Veritas 36

Elwood – The Veritas Christian girls basketball team couldn’t hang with St. Joseph and dropped into the loser’s bracket of the Elwood girls high school basketball tournament.

“They wore us down in the scond half,” Veritas coach Kevin Shelton said. “Fourteen second-half turnovers did us in.”

Kristie Tiegreen 18 points, and Susan Wilson 8 for the Eagles.

Veritas will return to Elwood at 4 p.m. Thursday play the loser of today’s Elwood vs. Doniphan West game.
