Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Jan 14, 1907: “Kansas City this year will hod the first annual Automobile Show in its big Convention Hall. Kansas City has grown as an automobile center and is getting great support from builders. : A story has been circulating that the government will close the Carlisle Indian School. But Supt. H.B. Peairs of Haskell Institute here says there is no truth whatever to such talk. He feels the Indian schools should be aided and expanded rather than closed. Certainly Haskell is valuable here and deserves all the help that can be mustered. . . . Marshal Kincaid won the theater box offered by the World to the most popular policeman in town as determined by a public vote.”
