Buckeyes solve SEC, ranked teams

? Ron Lewis finally gave Ohio State’s fans something to smile about.

Lewis hit a three-pointer with 11.2 seconds left to help the fifth-ranked Buckeyes beat No. 16 Tennessee, 68-66, on Saturday.

Ohio State’s football team was humiliated, 41-14, by Florida in the BCS national championship game Monday night. The Buckeyes fell to 0-8 in bowl games against Southeastern Conference teams.

Lewis’ basket finally gave Ohio State a win over an SEC team. It also provided the Buckeyes with their first win against a ranked team this season.

Ohio State’s Greg Oden played his most dominating game so far – 24 points, 15 rebounds and numerous shots altered on defense – to lead the Buckeyes (14-3).

Chris Lofton scored 23 to lead the Volunteers (13-4).

Evanston, Ill. – Alando Tucker scored 15 of his 17 points in the second half, and the Badgers held off the Wildcats for their 13th consecutive victory.

No. 7 Pittsburgh 74, Georgetown 69

Pittsburgh – Mike Cook had 18 points, and the Panthers won their sixth in a row.

No. 12 Butler 62, S. Dakota State 47

Indianapolis – Brandon Crone scored 14 points as the Bulldogs beat the Jackrabbits.

No. 13 LSU 65, Auburn 63

Baton Rouge, La. – Terry Martin scored 17 of his season-high 23 points in the second half for LSU.

No. 18 Air Force 58, Wyoming 56

Laramie, Wyo. – Jacob Burtschi made the winning basket at the buzzer and scored 18 points.

No. 20 Memphis 75, Southern Miss 62

Hattiesburg, Miss. – Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 23 points, including nine during a decisive 12-3 run, for the Tigers.

Marquette 81, No. 21 West Virginia 63

Milwaukee – Dominic James snapped out of his shooting slump, scoring 21 points to lead the Golden Eagles.

Stanford, Calif. – Anthony Goods hit a long three-pointer with 3.3 seconds left, lifting the Cardinal.

No. 24 Connecticut 68, St. John’s 59

New York – Freshmen Stanley Robinson, A.J. Price and Hasheem Thabeet combined for 40 points for the Huskies.
