Old Home Town – 40 years ago

The painting, “The Immaculate Conception,” by Mariano Salvador Maella, was acquired by the Kansas University Museum of Art with proceeds from the second annual Art Museum Ball here.

The Kansas Legislature convened for its 62nd session with a Democrat in the governor’s office (Robert Docking) and a Republican-controlled House and Senate. Local area delegates to Topeka were Sen. Reynolds Shultz and Reps. John Vogel and Morris Kay, all Republicans.
