Strong shooting carries HINU women

Amber Tecumseh and Kortney Smith scored 19 points apiece, to lead Haskell Indian Nations University to an 87-66 victory over Stephens College on Wednesday night at Coffin Complex.

Melissa Haag added 18 points and seven rebounds, Shanda Murdock had 17 points and six rebounds, and Shara Brown scored 10 points for the Fightin’ Indians.

Haskell shot 58.6 percent from the field and 84 percent from the foul line.

“We’re kind of coming together,” Haskell coach Phil Homeratha said. “We shot better. We shot more layups, for one.”

Haskell (8-8) will play Friday at McPherson Central Christian.
