Two more file for school board

Three total are in the race for four seats

Two more candidates filed Monday for Lawrence’s school board.

Robert Rauktis, 1616 Ind. St., and Victor B. Sisk, 3507 Riverview Ct., both filed today, according to Keith Campbell, Douglas County’s deputy of elections.

Rauktis and Sisk could not be immediately reached this afternoon.

Their filings brings the total to three candidates who have filed for four seats opening up on the seven member school board during the April. 3 election.

Marlene Merrill, a former director of assessments for the school district, has also filed.

The four board members ending their four-year terms this year are Sue Morgan, board president, Cindy Yulich, Rich Minder and Leonard Ortiz.

Minder said he plans to run again. Ortiz said he has not yet made up his mind, but was leaning against it.

If more than eight candidates file by the noon Jan. 23 filing deadline, there will be a primary on Feb. 27.
