Wichita St. recovers from huge stumble

? Karon Bradley scored a career-high 21 points Thursday as Wichita State beat Bradley, 84-63, to snap a four-game losing streak.

The Shockers (10-4, 1-2 Missouri Valley Conference) had not won since starting the season 9-0 and rising as high as No. 8 in the polls.

Bradley, who scored all but six of his points in the second half, was 8-of-10 from the field, including 5-of-6 from three-point range.

Gal Mekel and P.J. Couisnard each had 13 points for the Shockers, and Matt Braeuer added 12.

Will Franklin led the Braves (10-6, 1-3) with 19 points, and Daniel Ruffin had 18.

Ryan Martin didn’t score but had a game-high 10 rebounds for the Shockers, who outrebounded Bradley 37-21.

Wichita State led 43-28 at halftime.

The Braves scored the first five points in the second half to pull within 10, but that was as close as they came as the Shockers built their second-half lead to as many as 24 points.

After winning their first nine, the Shockers went into a dreadful tailspin. They lost consecutive games to New Mexico, Southern California, Northern Iowa and Southern Illinois, the latter two in conference play.

Wichita State returns to the road for its next two games – a Sunday showdown at Missouri State and a game Wednesday at Indiana State.

Bradley plays three of its next four away from home.
