Wichita State drops fourth straight

? Randal Falker scored 20 points, and Matt Shaw added 18 as Southern Illinois beat Wichita State, 73-68, Monday night.

Falker shot 8-for-9 from the free-throw line while Shaw grabbed a game-high nine rebounds for the Salukis (11-2, 2-0 Missouri Valley), whose 38-23 halftime lead allowed them to hold on despite being outscored, 45-35, in the second half.

Wichita State (9-4, 0-2) was led by 20 points from P.J. Couisnard, who finished 7-for-11 from the field. Kyle Wilson added 16 points and Sean Ogirri had 10 for the Shockers, who shot 70 percent (16-for-23) in the second half after a 35 percent (8-for-23) performance before the break.

Bryan Mullins scored 13 for Southern Illinois and Tony Young added 10 before fouling out with 1:15 to go in the game. The Salukis finished at 46 percent (24-for-52) shooting, while the Shockers shot 52 percent (24-for-46) overall.
