From the Lawrence Daily World for Jan. 1, 1907: “A number of ‘watch’ parties last night witnessed the departure of 1906. The largest of these was that of the Knights Templar. Only one class of people felt any regrets today and those were the school children, for classes went on as usual. : The Rev. Dr. Joshua A. Lippincott, former chancellor of the university, died at the age of 82 in Los Angeles. He was chancellor here for six years and recently had a photo taken with two other living chancellors of KU, Dr. Snow and Dr. Strong.”
