City staff to discuss waterline project

City staff members will give details Thursday morning on a summer project that will tear up a chunk of downtown Lawrence to replace a 100-year-old waterline.

Residents, merchants and other downtown dwellers can learn more about the project during the meeting, which starts at 8:30 a.m. Thursday at City Hall, Sixth and Massachusetts streets.

The project will replace waterlines on both sides of the 900 and 1000 blocks of Massachusetts Street and on the west side of the 1100 block of Massachusetts Street, and will disrupt parking during parts of the summer.

Engineers from BG Consultants and city staff members will be at the meeting to answer questions.
