Veritas boys finish fourth

? Veritas Christian finished fourth in the KCAA Class 2A state boys basketball tournament, closing its season Saturday with a 63-48 loss to Wichita Christian.

“If you had (told) us halfway through the season that we’d get a fourth-place finish in our state, we wouldn’t have believed you,” Veritas coach Doug Bennett said. “The guys really turned it around in the second half of the season, and we’ve got the makings of a strong program next year. I’m real proud of the way our team has developed.”

The Eagles finished 5-20, but won three of their last five games.

Tyler Williams led Veritas with 13 points against Wichita Christian, and Michael Kay added 12 points.
