Retired Army general named law school dean

A retired U.S. Army major general has been named dean of the Washburn University School of Law, effective July 1.

Washburn’s Board of Regents last month confirmed the appointment of Thomas J. Romig as the law school’s new dean.

Romig, a native of Manhattan, has served since 2005 as deputy chief counsel for operations for the Federal Aviation Administration. He served four years as judge advocate general of the Army, supervising 5,000 attorneys and 4,000 support staff.

Romig received a Bachelor of Science degree in social sciences from Kansas State University and was commissioned through the Army ROTC program. He graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1980.
