Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Feb. 21, 1907: “Douglas County will not lose any representation in the state legislature after a bill for reapportionment died quickly and is not likely to be revived. The House made short work of the ill-conceived offering. : I.H. Creel and Steve Wilson came to Lawrence in a lumber wagon pulled by a large team. The animals began a runaway and continued to the corner of No. 6 schoolhouse where both men were thrown out during a sharp turn and badly injured. Creel later died of internal injuries but it looks as if Wilson will survive after superficial injuries.”
