Old Home Town – 100 years ago

From the Lawrence Daily World for Feb. 19, 1907: “The annual convention of the State Photographers’ Association will be held here for about a week in early October. At least 200 will be here for what is viewed as a prestigious gathering. : Four of the eight young men from Kansas who took the Rhodes Scholarship exams passed, and all four are from Baker University. : Douglas County is receiving $3,141.15 for school purposes from the semiannual dispersal from the state. : The department of track athletics at the university has been rather neglected in recent years but things seem to be looking up under the guidance of coach Hagerman. The goal is to get the program up to the levels of football and basketball at KU.”
